The Aobayama area, located in western Sendai, is regarded as the birthplace of Sendai and is home to a rich concentration of historical, cultural, academic, and natural resources.
This fiscal year, the Sendai Convention Bureau is implementing the “Aobayama MICE Model Project,” which aims to leverage the value and appeal of the Aobayama area to host MICE events—such as academic conferences and international conventions—in a manner unique to Sendai. The project is intended to contribute to future efforts to attract MICE events and enhance support programs for organizers.
As part of this initiative, our Association supported “The 127th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery”.
One of the support activities was a panel exhibition, where many local residents showed interest in information related to hearing health and took the opportunity to assess their own hearing.
Midway through the conference, we hosted a tea ceremony experience for participants from overseas, providing them with an opportunity to experience Japanese culture firsthand. Through the practice of tea ceremony, participants were introduced to the spirit of harmony and Japan’s culture of hospitality.
In addition, a public lecture for citizens was held on the themes of hearing loss and aspiration, offering attendees new insights and knowledge.
At this conference, we also conducted a survey regarding the Aobayama MICE Model Project. The feedback collected will be used as a reference for future project management and program planning.
